The farewell tour for David Ortiz is underway and Red Sox legend and former teammate Tim Wakefield is wishing Big Papi well.

Ortiz got his first sendoff Monday in Fort Myers, where he was honored at JetBlue Park at his final home spring training game. The team named a street at the complex in his honor and he was presented with seats from all the ballparks in Fort Myers.

"He’s been the face of the franchise for so many years since he first got here in 2003, I’m just happy for him," Wakefield said at an event in Boston. "He deserves this, obviously, and I wish him the best. And hopefully he can have the year he wants to have on his way out of Boston."

Ortiz also tweeted following the spring training celebration Monday, saying he felt "truly honored."
