Lawmakers are setting limits in hopes of getting control on the opioid epidemic.

The bill which could pass this week, is designed to address the state’s growing crisis.

Many legislators say it could be a landmark bill that sets the stage for other states.

Three of the main provisions that this bill would include:

  1. Student Screening
  2. Seven-Day Supply
  3. Portion of Medication

This agreement was struck by a six-member conference committee after nearly seven weeks of Governor Charlie Baker pushing for tougher legislation to help fight the battle against opioid addiction.

The house is expected to vote on this bill Wednesday, and the senate could vote as early at Thursday.
