HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Dartmouth College says major gifts in support of teaching and faculty research, student financial aid, and other projects have totaled nearly $319 million in fiscal year 2016, a 2.8 percent increase over last year.
Dartmouth says the amount also represents a 74 percent increase over the previous five-year average of $183.6 million.
President Phil Hanlon says annual giving was strong across campus, including the Thayer School of Engineering, the Tuck School of Business and the Geisel School of Medicine.
Plans include the creation of 10 interdisciplinary academic clusters proposed by faculty to address a specific global challenge. It will bring 30 new faculty members to the college.
Expansion to the Hood Museum of Art and the construction of an indoor practice facility for athletes also are planned.
