WESTBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - WESTBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — State police are investigating a fatal crash overnight on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Westborough.

Police say a 26-year-old woman from Spencer was killed at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday when the driver of a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer traveling westbound lost control of the vehicle and struck a rock ledge off the right side of the roadway. The driver and three passengers were ejected from the vehicle. The woman from Spencer landed in the roadway and was struck by multiple vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other five occupants and the driver were all taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment of serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. No charges were immediately filed.
