BOURNE, MASS. (WHDH) - At 2:30 Saturday morning Bourne police responded to a 911 call of a man being struck in the head with a baseball bat.

While responding on Quail Hill road, officers were informed that the suspect was fleeing the scene with the victim’s car.

The suspect, 28-year-old Mark Dudas of Dorchester was identified as a friend of the victim.

Officers found the vehicle and ordered Dudas to stop.

He was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol and refused to listen to officers commands.

While officers were attempting to apprehend him the vehicle, stopped but not in park, hit a parked police cruiser causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Dudas was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assualt and battery with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The 39-year-old victim was treated on the scene and later transported to an area hospital.

It was later determined, Dudas struck the victim with a bat after an argument over remarks made by the victim about Dudas and his family.
