The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several counties in Massachusetts and New Hampshire Sunday morning.

Counties currently affected include Hampden and Hampshire counties in Massachusetts, until 10:15 a.m.

Additionally, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester counties are in a severe thunderstorm warning until 11 a.m.

Counties affected in New Hampshire include Belknap; Carroll; Hillsborough; Merrimack; Rockingham; Strafford.

These storms can produce lots of lightning, heavy rain, and wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour. Additionally, drought conditions mean an increased chance for downed trees in these areas.

These storms are expected to move through the region quickly, leaving the area by early afternoon.
