Hazy, a bit humid, HOT – and HAPPY!  As far as a great beach day goes, today’s the day during this long holiday weekend.  Temps will be near (and possibly break) records, into the low to even mid 90s!  Did we just time warp into summer?  YEP!  So many activities!

Enjoy it!  However, there are a couple of disclaimers (as there always are).  1)  The water temps are still in the mid 50s, so brace yourself for that “beginning of summer chill” as you dip your toes in the water!  2)  The UV Index is at a 9 today (very high) – so prepare for this!  That means, slather on the SPF 35+ and reapply every couple of hours.  Seriously.  I don’t care how great your “base-tan” is, you only get one layer of skin in your lifetime so take care of it!
Lastly, 3)  We can’t rule out a pop-up shower/thunderstorm this afternoon/evening.  MOST of us stay dry and HIGH (temp-wise) today but if a storm does pop up, downpours and gusty winds are possible.  Remember, “When thunder roars, go indoors.”  Always be weather aware… especially on “Triple ‘H'” days:  Hot, Hazy, Humid = Ideal conditions for storms to form.

A backdoor cool front will work in to change temps up for tomorrow.  The immediate coastline tops out in the 60s Sunday, with 75° acting as my “magic number” in the extended forecast.  However, it’s still likely that inland – where temps may still climb into the 80s – we’ll get some afternoon/evening showers and thunderstorms.  Once again, the possibility of downpours and gusty winds will be present.  Most likely for points N & W of 495.

Now, Monday.  Memorial Day.  The day we REALLY want to know about.  Here’s the good news:  You probably have the day off!  More good news:  Memorial Day is often referred to as the “unofficial start of summer!”  Important news:  Memorial Day is a day to remember the brave men and women who fought for our great nation.  The not-so-good news:  Wet weather is expected.  Tropical Depression #2 is expected to strengthen (briefly) into a Tropical Storm (Bonnie) later today just off the coast of South Carolina.  This tropical moisture will travel in our direction for Memorial Day, and bring some storms with heavy rain.  It doesn’t look like a complete washout – but it does look wet.  Temps will be in the mid 70s.

Guess what?  I’ll be here tracking it all for you!  Not just this morning, but throughout the weekend and on Monday too!  You’re stuck with me.  Have a GREAT weekend!  – Breezy
