The rain, snow and ice of yesterday are gone, but in it’s wake, cold air comes rushing into New England for today. If you missed your morning coffee, no worries, a quick walk outside will wake you up really fast! A biting wind has dropped wind chills into the single digits and lower teens, and that’s pretty much where we stay through the day. Air temps run this afternoon from the low 20s in the Worcester Hills to mid to upper 20s in Boston. Wind gusts increase through the day, gusting 40 to 50mph this afternoon and early this evening, which has prompted a wind advisory for the area.

Tonight, the Geminid Meteor Shower peaks at a rate of 100-120 per hour. The best chance of viewing any shooting stars around here will be this evening under a partly cloudy sky before clouds increase overnight. Dress warm as temps dip into the teens with wind chills barely above 0.

Late overnight tonight and early tomorrow, some patchy light snow and flurries break out south of the Pike, with the steadiest snow along the south coast of New England. Don’t expect much out of this. A dusting for some south of the Pike and up to an inch or two across the Islands. It’ll remain chilly with highs in the 20s again tomorrow, but just not as cold and as windy as today.

We’ll catch another chance for some flurries or patchy light snow Friday night/Saturday AM, but no big storms are on the horizon through the weekend.

Have a great day and stay warm!
