VATICAN CITY (WHDH) — Pope Francis shared his Olympic hopes Wednesday at his weekly audience in Vatican City.
Pope Francis said he wants the Olympic games to inspire both athletes and spectators to pursue a goal of solidarity and equality. He called these goals “more precious” than any medal and that there is a thirst for peace and tolerance around the world.
A delegation from Brazil was watching the Pope speak and cheered as he praised Brazil for its hospitality and joy. He said he hopes the Olympics would give Brazil an opportunity to build a more fair and safer country.
