Shooting in Rio kicks off tomorrow with qualifications for 25m rapid fire pistol at 8:00 a.m., and men’s skeet at 8:30 a.m.
The 25m rapid fire pistol final begins at 11:30 a.m.
Leuris Pupo will look to reclaim the gold medal he won at the 2012 London Games. The 39-year-old holds the only shooting gold medal for his nation, Cuba.
The U.S. will be represented in the event by Keith Sanderson. Sanderson, 41, finished second in the Olympic test event in Rio earlier in the year and looks to keep the momentum going.
Christian Reitz of Germany is another potential contender. The 2008 bronze medalist has since earned three medals at European Championships.
The men’s skeet final will begin at 2:00 p.m.
All eyes will be on two-time reigning gold medalist Vincent Hancock. Hancock was just 19 when he won gold in Beijing; now he is 27 years old and coming off of a World Championship victory in 2015.
Competing for the Independent Olympic Athletes will be Abdullah Al-Rashidi. A Kuwaiti by descent, he is unable to compete under his country’s banner due to sanctions placed on the country. Al-Rashidi has been to two Olympic finals in the discipline.
