With so much focus leading up to this year’s Olympics being on Zika and dirty water, it’s often forgotten just how beautiful of a city Rio is. The U.S. men’s and women’s water polo teams arrived in Brazil last week, and have enjoyed not only taking in the sights around the Olympic village, but also showing off the beachfront city and it’s mountainous landscape on social media.
The men’s team took a group fieldtrip to Sugarloaf Mountain on the Guanabara Bay, and posed in front of the water.
Team captain Tony Azevedo found the perfect spot for an interview – right on the beach.
Women’s team goalkeeper Sami Hill also found a nice spot to not only watch some rugby, but get a view of the Christ the Redeemer Statue, one of the most famous landmarks in Rio.
The women’s team has been training at the Flamengo Club, an outdoor pool that also has a view of the mountaintop statue.
Hill even took a video of what the drive along the water into Flamengo looks like, saying “I could get used to this morning commute.”
Not only has team USA been taking in the sights around Rio, but they’ve also got some pretty great views right in the athlete village. Hill took a video from atop the Team USA building of what the village looks like.
