After defeating Belgium’s Lianne Tan on Thursday evening 2-1, USA’s women’s singles player Iris Wang was looking in good shape to advance from her group. Now, her chances are looking even better as she defeated Portugal’s Telma Santos 2-1 on Friday evening. Losing the first game in a nailbiter 21-18, Wang came out on fire in game two, soundly defeating Santos 21-10. Game three was more of the same as Wang had numerous fantastic rallies to gain momentum and emerge victorious, 21-12. Wang goes for three wins in a row on Sunday afternoon on Court 2 against China’s skillful and adroit, Li Xuerui.
