A re-creation of the 2011 comic series that started off a re-launched version of the DC Comics universe will begin The CW show’s new season, lead actor Grant Gustin confirms.
“The Flash” is going to be bringing one of the biggest DC Comics’ events to life when it returns for season 3 this fall.
Grant Gustin, the lead actor who plays the superfast Barry Allen on the show, dropped the title of the premiere on Twitter after getting the go-ahead by showrunner Greg Berlanti.
Flashpoint is originally the name of a 2011 comic book event that led into a full re-launch of the DC Comics’ universe known as The New 52. Without getting into too many spoilers, the story had major ramifications on nearly every character covered by DC: including Superman, Wonder Woman and Batgirl. The event was also adapted into a 2013 animated film
“We’re definitely doing this FP thing our own way.. I’ve read Flashpoint, I’ve seen the amazing animated film. This will be its own thing,” Gustin said in a follow-up tweet.
The ending of the show’s second season, which I also will not spoil here but can be read on our sister site TV Guide, appeared to lay the seeds for the event.
