BOSTON (AP) — A Gold Star father who became a national celebrity when he spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention is joining a former “Saturday Night Live” star and others for a celebration of immigrants in Boston this weekend.

The event hosted by the John F. Kennedy Foundation’s New Frontier Network on Saturday evening is designed to honor immigrants’ rich contributions to America.

The JFK Library Foundation says Khizr Khan and his wife, Ghazala Khan, are special guests in honor of Veterans Day. Their son, Capt. Humayun Khan, was killed in Iraq in 2004.

Others attending include Horatio Sanz, a Chile native who performed on “Saturday Night Live” and recently became a naturalized citizen, and Bambadjan Bamba, the “Black Panther” actor who emigrated from the Ivory Coast.
