National City is getting a very famous visitor.
Superman/Clark Kent will officially be making an appearance in the second season of Supergirl,Warner Bros. announced on Monday. While we’ve seen text messages, long-distance shots and a younger version of the famed hero, there has never been an in-person appearance of the character on the show.
Superman will appear in the first two episodes of the show’s second season. The role has not yet been cast.
“(We) are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a news release. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
Supergirl‘s second season will move the show from CBS to its new home on The CW, which already features three DC Comics TV shows including The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The network’s fall schedule will feature a DC TV show Monday through Thursday.
DC Comics also has another version of Superman flying around, played by Henry Cavill, who was seen most recently in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is not the first time DC has cast a film and TV version of a character. Batman v Superman also introduced a movie-version of The Flash, in Ezra Miller.
