PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence police are investigating a pre-dawn crash that left one person dead and another person in the hospital with critical injuries.
Police say their vehicle struck a utility pole on Elmwood Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
The two occupants of the car were taken to Rhode Island Hospital where one was pronounced dead.
No names were made public.
Surrounding streets were closed while the victims were treated at the scene.
The cause remains under investigation.
