NEW MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — A woman was killed and a man was injured when a car and dump truck collided in Connecticut, partially submerging the truck in a river.

The Danbury News-Times reports that the crash in New Milford on Tuesday killed 24-year-old Christina Walters, of Kent, and injured 59-year-old Jeff Griener, of Poughquag, New York.

Police say the collision sent the truck down an embankment into the Housatonic River.

Griener escaped the dump truck and waded to shore. He was taken to a hospital.

The crash is under investigation.

Town officials have contacted the state Department of Transportation to get the crash history for that stretch of Route 7.

There was a head-on collision there last month and a 2016 crash killed a woman and seriously injured her young daughter.
