BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say one person was found dead after a fire in a mobile home in Connecticut.

The fire at the mobile home in Branford was reported at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Assistant Chief Shaun Heffernan did not immediately have any details on the victim.

Fire Chief Tom Mahoney said the back of the trailer was engulfed in smoke and flames and it took firefighters under 15 minutes to tackle it.

Neighbors reported that the fire was intense, and so hot that it melted the siding on a nearby home.

The cause remains under investigation, and it’s not clear if the home had smoke alarms.
