A person is dead and a firefighter injured after a fire at a multi-family home in Fall River.

Firefighters said when they arrived on the scene on Eastern Avenue, they found the entire third floor of the house engulfed in flames. The victim’s body was found on the third floor once the fire was put out.

Fire officials did manage to get multiple women from first floor of the home.

One firefighter is recovering after he slipped and fell on the ice.

Frigid temperatures caused equipment to freeze, making it difficult for firefighters to put out the flames.

When the fire broke out, Fall River only had one firetruck in the area, as others were already out fighting fires nearby.

The victim’s name has not been released. Officials say it is too soon to know the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
