SANDWICH, MASS. (WHDH) - One person was injured after lightning struck two homes in Sandwich and caused them to catch on fire.
According to the Sandwich Fire Department, officials received reports for two houses on fire shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday.
The incident occurred on Greenville Drive.
One of the houses had smoke in the basement due to a damaged electric system. One person from that home was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters found a working fire at the second home, and were able to successfully extinguish the flames. No one was injured at that home.
The steeple of a 178-year-old church in Dennis was also struck by lightning Friday night.
