BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Two veterans concerned about F-35 jets coming to Vermont have been cited for trespassing during a sit-in at U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy’s office in Burlington, Vermont.
Police cited Rosanne Greco and Roger Bourassa after they sat in Leahy’s office for a couple of hours Monday, trying to get Leahy to sign a list of demands, such as having the jets fly more before they arrive, buying homes in noise zones, and holding more public hearings.
Both told WCAX-TV they have been protesting the planes’ arrival for a while. They are scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
The Vermont National Guard has said the planes will be here within a couple weeks. The F-35s are replacing the F-16s.
