Two University of New Hampshire students are facing charges for allegedly stabbing another student. 

Matthew R. Gibbons, 20, and Eric C. Denning, 21, both of Salem, New Hampshire ,were arrested on Saturday, according to Durham Police.

Gibbons is facing charges of 1st degree assault and is being held on $100,000 cash bail, police said. He will be arraigned on Monday.

Denning is facing charges of 2nd degree assault and criminal liability. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail and will be arraigned on Monday. 

At around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, Durham Police responded to a home on Madbury Road for an assault. 

Police say they found a 20-year-old man who said he had been stabbed by somebody. 

The victim was taken to Wentworth Douglas Hospital for treatment where he underwent surgery for two stab wounds. The victim is listed in stable condition.
