TEMPLETON, Mass. (AP) — State police say two women were killed after their car hit a bridge and burst into flames on state Route 2 in Templeton.

Police say the 2010 Mercedes was traveling eastbound Saturday morning when it veered off the road, hit a bridge abutment at the Otter River Road overpass, rolled over and caught fire.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and first responders found the remains of the two women inside. The victims weren’t immediately identified.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
