BOSTON (WHDH) - A JetBlue plane hit turbulence Thursday night flying out of Boston, sending 22 passengers and two flight crew members to the hospital.

Passengers said the turbulence started about 2 hours into the flight.

The flight to Sacramento was diverted to Rapid City, South Dakota.

One woman was taken off the plane in a neck brace.

All the victims were treated for minor injuries and have been released from the hospital.

7News spoke to one woman who was staying in New Bedford with family before returning to California. She said at one point, she thought she was going to die.

A replacement aircraft was sent to take the remaining passenger to Sacramento, said JetBlue officials.

Passengers landed in South Dakota at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, and are expected to land in Sacramento at 7 a.m. ET Friday.
