A 3-year-old boy has died after being found in a stream behind his daycare.

Vermont State Police say 3-year-old Parker Berry of Hyde Park, Vermont was found in the stream behind the Elephant in the Field day care in Waterbury.

Police say the child’s family arrived at the day care Thursday afternoon, and staff at that point realized the child was unaccounted for.

Shortly thereafter, staff members found the child floating in a partially frozen stream behind the business.

The child was taken to University of Vermont Medical Center where he died.

Vermont State Police are the incident as a possible drowning.
