HILLSBORO, N.H. (WHDH) — A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized after a woman who police said was on drugs hit him with her car.

The crash happened as Cooper Rodgers was walking down the steps of a daycare with his mother.

"It devastates me. Cooper was a 3-year-old old boy that doesn't deserve to suffer the consequences of her poor judgment," Danielle Levitz, the boy's aunt, said.

Police said 24-year-old Kaitliynn Hollinsworth was under the influence of prescription drugs when she lost control of her car.

“When officers responded we found her to be impaired, or what we believe to be an impairment. So she was taken for a blood test and subsequently charged,” Hillsboro Police Chief David Roarick said.

Hollinsworth was held on $10,000 cash bail and is due back in court in October.

The boy’s mother was not injured in the crash and he has since been released from the hospital and doctors expect a full recovery.
