Little Rock, Arkansas (NBC) — A 3-year-old was shot and killed in a road rage incident Saturday night in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Police say the 3-year-old was riding in the back sear with grandma on the way to JC Penny.

When the grandmother got to the store, she realized her grandson had been shot.

The boy was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities believe that the suspect had no relation to the grandmother or the little boy.

Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buchner was on the scene.

He said the shooting was a senseless act of violence.

“I certainly have no information to say that anyone in this family has done anything to cause this young person’s life,” said Buckner. “But this is about as frustrating as you can be as a public safety official or just a plain citizen.
