CHELSEA, MASS. (WHDH) - Four daycare facilities in Massachusetts were forced to close after losing their state license over numerous violations.

All four locations of Terri’s Little Pumpkins daycare centers will close Friday. The Department of Early Education and Care said the licenses were revoked for failing to comply with imposed sanctions from as far back as two years ago. The department also said the facilities continued to violate state regulations.

“I didn’t even know there were allegations until now,” said mother Sarah Leslie, whose son attended the daycare’s location in Chelsea. She said she already switched her son to another facility because she was told someone bought the Chelsea building.

According to court documents, violations included insufficient food and drinks for children and as many as a dozen dead mice found behind a refrigerator. A staff member was allegedly observed nodding off while changing a baby’s diaper and another staff member was accused of leaving a child unattended in a transportation van.

The Terri’s Little Pumpkins locations closing are in Revere, Chelsea, Medford and Somerville.
