HAMPTON, N.H. (WHDH) - Five people were injured in a two-car crash on Route 101 in Hampton, NH.
According to New Hampshire state police, 22-year-old Giovanni Lopes of Rochester was driving eastbound on Route 101 shortly before noon. When traffic slowed, his car was struck by a Jeep driven by 23-year-old Brady Hallahan of Central Square, NY.
Lopes’ car contained four passengers.
The passenger in the left rear seat, a 14-year-old boy, sustained a serious head injury. He was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, and later transferred to Tufts Medical Center via medical helicopter.
The passenger in the right rear seat, a 16-year-old girl, sustained serious back and neck injuries and was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Lopes was not injured in the crash, and his other two passengers suffered minor injuries.
Hallahan was the only person in his car, and he suffered minor injuries.
Police said the incident remains under investigation, but driver inattention on the part of Hallahan appears to be a contributing factor.
Traffic was diverted off of Exit 13 for approximately two hours.
