PLYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - Ashton, 5, walked right into the Plymouth police station with a gift bag in hand.

The south shore kindergartner, along with her aunt Krystiana Watts, wanted to do something nice for their community. The ladies teamed up along with their church to make a hundred care packages for the Plymouth Police Department.

Inside the bags were goodies with a special message.

The note read:

“Lifesavers because you are a lifesaver,

Gum to remind you to stick,

Jolly ranchers in case you need something sweet

And cards to show you how much we appreciate you.”

This family said with the rash of violence directed at officers around the country, they wanted to reach out and show the officers here that they care.

“I want them to know that the community loves them, we appreciate them and God loves them,” said Watts.

The chief said seeing things like this make the job even more worth it.
