BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A 63-year-old Connecticut man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
The Connecticut Post reports that Luis Valbuena was held on $250,000 bond at his arraignment Tuesday on charges including first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.
Police say the Bridgeport man began sexually assaulting the girl when she was five, telling her he loved her and showing her sex tapes.
Authorities allege the assaults continued until the girl was 11. Police say Valbuena warned the girl not to tell anyone, but she recounted her allegations in a note to her mother. Her parents then went to police.
Valbuena’s lawyer argued for more lenient bond, saying his client, while a Columbian citizen, has lived in the city for 20 years and raised two sons.
