PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police say a sixth suspect has been arrested in connection with the beating and stabbing death of a Rhode Island man killed after he left a nightclub in Providence’s Federal Hill neighborhood.
Police say 29-year-old Antonio Fortes was arrested in Cranston and faces arraignment Wednesday on murder and other charges in the June 30 death of 28-year-old Stephen Cabral. It’s not clear if Fortes has an attorney.
Police say a group of eight men punched, kicked and stabbed the North Providence man in a pharmacy parking lot near Club Seven.
Police say the suspects and victim had been at the club earlier that night. The club has been temporarily shut down. The owner says his business had nothing to do with the killing.
