BOSTON (WHDH) - 7NEWS’ own Amaka Ubaka emceed a special event Tuesday night: STEP into GRACE, a fundraiser put on on by Project STEP, a nonprofit that helps students of color and those from underserved communities learn classical string music.
The night featured performances and speakers, with both participants and attendees emphasizing the need for access and diversity in the arts.
“It’s just always helping to increase representation and make it more accessible for people to see themselves in this career, cause it’s amazing and I think we should share music with everybody,” said Jean-Caleb Belizaire, a Project STEP alum.
Project STEP also presented an award to the executive director of the Community Music Center of Boston.
