In almost any other matchup, Alex Cordrry’s team would have cruised to an easy victory. Instead, Corddry’s Gronk/Edelman-led squad fell in a big way, as Trey Daerr lapped the field to score and dominated in a 165-117 victory in the first week of the 7News fantasy football league.

"If I had entered this team in a DraftKings lineup, I would have won a million dollars," Daerr said after his dominating win. And he has a point – two of his top scorers (Cowboys QB Tony Romo and 49ers RB Carlos Hyde) also turned up on the roster of DraftKings’ $2 million winner this past week. Daerr also benefited from a great defense (Carolina) and a stellar kicking performance from Denver K Brandon McManus.

It should be no surprise that sports personalities dominated. Daerr’s 165 led the way, with Team Amorosino second with 123 points and Corddry third with 117, despite taking the loss. Amorosino took down Nicole Oliverio, who shared some of her disappointment on Twitter (see below).

Other winners this week included Tim Caputo taking down reigning champ Pete Bouchard, while Brandon Gunnoe edged Kris Anderson and Dan Hausle outlasted Jeremy Reiner.

Anderson, for one, clearly expected more out of his wide receivers (Indianapolis WR Andre Johnson, Tampa Bay WR Vincent Jackson, and Detroit WR Golden Tate) – the trio combined for just 9 points. Still, while he expects to mix up the flex spot, he’s not abandoning hope just yet

"I think that was really the basement for Johnson and Jackson," he said. "I think (Indy QB Andrew) Luck will pull it together this week, and (Tampa QB Jameis) Winston has the jitters out of the way now.

"Besides," he adds, "I wasn’t JR-bad," sneaking a glance at Reiner. The last-place weatherman did not muster up a retort.
