DEDHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - The 89-year-old Dedham man found injured following an alleged robbery in his home on May 27 has died, according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s office.
Ignazio Chermesino of Upland Road, hailed passers-by to contact Dedham police after being assaulted. He was hospitalized, and died Saturday morning.
The Medical Examiner has accept the case for autopsy. The investigation is continuing with the possibility of adjustment to the charges.
The suspect in the incident, 35-year-old Nicholas Durfee of Roslindale, pled not guilty to assault charges Thursday.
Durfee was arrested Wednesday, and was charged with unarmed assault to rob, assault and battery on a person over age 60 and breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony.
He was held on $100,000 bail.
