Sunshine & temps near 60 over the weekend to periods of rain & sleet with temps near 40 today. Having grown up here, I’m not shocked by this drastic change in our weather–especially in March–but the setback does bum me out. It’s still better than snow, which a year ago tomorrow, Boston picked up 3 more inches of snow bringing the season total to 108", while this year we sit at ~26" of snow.
No snow in the forecast over the next few days but we do have more rain heading this way from a whole new storm. Today’s storm moves out tonight and this newfangled storm sweeps in from Kentucky. When the new storm arrives there won’t be any cold pockets of air in the atmosphere like there was for today’s storm, so it’s just about the raindrops tomorrow. You’ll need the rain gear for the morning commute and likely through midday but after 2pm, I think the steady rain scoots outta here. Most towns pick up .50" of rain (or less) and all towns see their temps stuck in the 40s. Cool & raw but the rain is needed–been dry lately.
By midweek it’s a bit tricky. We are in-between storm systems but the concern will be any leftover clouds from tomorrow. If those clouds don’t break then temps will remain stuck in the upper 40s but if we get any sunshine then the temps will easily bounce into the 50s…as of this evening, I’ll play it conservative with the forecast. A few showers may happen with a weak cool front at night.
This front doesn’t have any cool air tho so plan on a mix of sun & clouds on St. Patrick’s Day and temps near 60–raise a pint & celebrate the Irish! cooler weather does return for Friday & into the weekend.
