….Is still a nasty, stormy day(s). The term nor’easter has no strict definition to adhere to (like a blizzard or hurricane does), simply a strong coastal storm that produces rain & wind (most often a northeast wind—-there actually is a term sou’easter..similar, just a southeast wind instead of a northeast wind). Some think nor’easters only mean snowstorms. Nope, they can happen at any time of the year (yes–even summer!) but most often during fall, winter & spring and are most intense during the winter. We have a nor’easter on our hands over the next two days.
This storm has been slow to develop but will continue to intensify today so grab the rain gear. We’ll have spotty, light showers this morning but eh showers will become steadier & heavier by afternoon & certainly this evening. Wind will also increase, especially along the coast, from the….wait for it…northeast! Cold & raw with temps pinned down into the low 50s (even upper 40s along & outside I-495). The storm will throw rain & wind into New England overnight with most towns picking up between 1-2″ of rain by early Thursday morning!
On Thursday, the storm will spin down from steady rain during the morning commute to drizzle, mist by afternoon. The wind will also ease during the morning hours. As for temps, they stay in the 50s but south of town low 60s can & will happen. This storm will still be with us on Friday but in a much weaker fashion..only able to generate some isolated showers during the morning. Otherwise, look for a lot of clouds but dry for Friday afternoon & evening.
