What a big turnaround our weather did overnight! Some of us spent yesterday in shorts and t-shirts, and today we were donning the coats and rain-boots. Our highs for today were in the mid to upper 50’s (60° for Boston), but those highs occurred just after midnight. Temps have been dropping ever since, and we’re now about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than we were just 24 hours ago!
It wasn’t a lot of rain today – but it was enough to make for lots of puddles. Most areas picked up between 0.10" and 0.30". As the clouds clear out overnight, the temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 20s for points north and west of Boston. That means, what is wet now is likely to freeze by daybreak tomorrow. So, if you’re out and about early on Sunday morning, use caution on the sidewalks and driveways!
High pressure is settling in from the north and this will ensure a very sunny Sunday. How appropriate! :c) While temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 40s tomorrow, the sunshine and light winds will make it a really nice, late-November day. Yes, late November. I realize our warm weather yesterday may have gotten some of us off track, but we are just two full days away from the start of Meteorological Winter (December 1st). Still need to get that Christmas tree and/or put the lights up on the house? Tomorrow will be a great day for all of those things – just not while wearing shorts.
A lot of us are wondering where the snowflakes are, considering how close we are to Christmas (just 33 days, but who’s counting?). It looks like we won’t be doing any shoveling in the foreseeable future, but there could be a few flakes flying around SE Mass overnight Sunday. No accumulation – not even a coating… but there’s still a slight chance of some flakes/flurries.
Next best chance for rain to enter into the picture will be late Tuesday into Wednesday. The ice storm that has been battering the Plains will make its way into the Great Lakes and eventually into Canada, bringing wet weather our way. However, we stay on the "warm side" of this system. Along with the raindrops will be highs in the low to mid 50s. No risk of snow here.
Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow and GO PATS! – Breezy
