BOSTON (WHDH) - Olympic champion and Needham native Aly Raisman visited the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Monday, where she made a donation with a personal connection.

Raisman and Bridgestone Tires presented a $10,000 check to the institute’s Center for Lung Cancer. The donation was made in memory of Raisman’s grandmother Nancy, who passed away from lung cancer. Raisman said her grandmother was always supportive of her dreams of becoming a gymnast.

Representatives from Bridgestone Tires were also involved in the donation.

Raisman also toured the institute, signing autographs and posing for pictures with patients and staff. While talking to patients, she also took down some of their information and said she wanted to stay in touch.
