RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (WHDH) - Aly Raisman’s parents once again stole the spotlight as their daughter competed in her second Olympic games on Sunday.
Aly’s parents first stepped into the spotlight when a reaction video to their daughter’s floor exercise at the London Olympics went viral.
“We found out after that NBC put us on live TV the second night, and we were like, ‘Oh my god,” said Rick Raisman, her father.
Who would have thought like a 30 second video clip watching her compete…it is crazy because we didn’t realize it,” said Lynn Raisman, Aly’s mother. “We didn’t realize how crazy we were reacting,” she added.
Four years later, the Raisman’s are reality stars.
“It’s been a fun ride,” said Lynn.
The parents even have lucky shirts that go back her gold medal performance in London.
“It’s funny cause she’d say, ‘I might you wear the same shirt you wore in London,'” said Lynn.
The pair even knows where they’ll sit when they watch Aly, saying they’re a “a little superstitious.”
They hope to give her the extra boost to win a second round of medals in Rio.
“You have to have a little luck on your side, but I think all the hard work that she’s put in will help her with her luck,” said Rick.
Aly said she looks to her parents for grounding.
“I definitely rely on them and use them whenever I’m having a rough day, or whenever I’m nervous,” said Aly.
