In an attempt to make moviegoing more appealing to younger generations, AMC theaters are considering allowing patrons to text in movie theaters.
In an interview with Variety Magazine, AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron said he wants to make some of his theaters more device-friendly.
One consideration would be a specific section of theaters where texting would be allowed, but the more likely option, according to Aron, is having specific auditoriums and theaters that are texting-friendly.
The move would be a bold strategy for AMC, which is poised to become the largest movie theater chain in the world following a proposed merger with Carmike.
