MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — Animal control officers in a Connecticut city are trying to figure why they keep finding dogs around town with extremely matted fur.
The Manchester animal control officer says they have impounded eight to 10 of the dogs in the past few months, and they think there might be a connection between the finds.
The dogs all appear to be Shih Tzus or Shih Tzu mixes, are mostly male, intact, and mostly between 1 and 4 years old.
They think somebody in Manchester or a neighboring community may be breeding them and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Many of the dogs have had extremely matted fur, which has required medical sedation before they could be trimmed.
