(WHDH) — The MSPCA at Nevins farm is settling the 19 chickens, 16 ducks, five horses, and slew of other animals surrendered as a result of a joint animal cruelty investigation and now the organization is hoping adopters will step up to offer the animals a brighter future.

The animals, which also include two turkeys, one guinea fowl, and two dogs, were surrendered on Nov. 1.

“We believe most of the animals will be able to be rehabilitated, and will be available for adoption after treatment,” said Mike Keiley, MSPCA-Angell director of adoption centers and programs, in a statement. “The two dogs are really special. They were living in horse stalls, but they have a great disposition and love being around people. It’s a great example of how resilient animals can be and why we should treasure them.”

The animals’ previous owner, Adevalter Majesky, 50, of Tyngsboro, Mass., is now facing two counts of felony animal cruelty.

Keiley expects the ducks, chickens, turkeys and dogs to be available for adoption in the coming weeks.

Three of the available horses are miniatures, which are typically about half the height of a standard horse and can make excellent companions for children, families and even other farm animals.

Anyone looking to adopt should apply at mspca.org/nevinsadopt.
