BOSTON (WHDH) - Walkers took the streets of Boston for a good cause Sunday morning.

Over 9,000 people laced up their sneakers for the 28th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.

The 26.2 mile walk was created to support cancer car and research at the Dana-Farber Institute.

Organizers said the event is the nation’s most successful single-day fundraising walk.

The walk raised 8.3 million dollars for the Dana-Farber Institute.
