It’s Easter weekend and for many its the best of times.  For forecasters, its the worst of times.  The forecast is a complicated tale of two New Englands.  This is another case where I would put a big asterisk in the 7 day forecast if I was allowed to.  In this case, the asterisk would point to a note that read "AVERAGE CONDITIONS ONLY, ACTUAL NUMBERS WILL VARY!"

Winds will be blowing in from the northeast on Saturday.  The onshore winds will bring cool, moist air to the coast.  That means a cloudy, cool day near the coast with high temps only in the low 40s.  Meanwhile, further inland, Worcester County will see a partly sunny day with high temps in the low 50s.

For Easter Sunday, winds will be blowing in from the southeast.  That is a slightly warmer wind for everyone, but it’s still an onshore wind, so the same rules apply.  It will be another cloudy, cool day near the coast with high temps in the mid 50s and a partly sunny day inland with high temps in the mid 50s.

On Monday there will be a warm front draped across the area.  As Jeremy pointed out yesterday in a similar situation, "getting a warm front to move through New England can be like pushing a rope….darn near impossible."  That makes predicting the temps even more difficult.  Those that make it on the warm side of the front could see temps soar into the low 60s.  However, those that stay on the cold side of the front may not get out of the 40s.  That was certainly the case on Friday.  I’ll guess high temps will be in the low 50s on average.  Either way, everyone gets rain on Monday.

Finally…sunshine on Tuesday!  No "ifs," "ands," or "buts" this time!  We only get two completely sunny days in the coming week so enjoy it while it lasts.

Another front moves in late Thursday or Friday.  Once again, the timing and location of the front makes the temperature forecast for the end of the workweek challenging.  So, stay tuned…the asterisk there would  read "subject to change!"

Maybe in my next blog, rather than quote Dickens, I will write a remix to Run-D.M.C.’s "Tricky."  Something like, "Its tricky to track a front, to track a front that’s right on time, its tricky…"
