PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police have made an arrest in the beating death of a 41-year-old man found dead in his Providence apartment over the weekend.

Police say 21-year-old old Troy Ingram is charged with murder.

Detective Capt. Timothy O’Hara says the victim was found dead of “blunt force trauma” in his apartment at about 1 a.m. Sunday. His name has not been made public, but police say he was from Pakistan and worked at a Smith Hill convenience store.

Police responded to the apartment after co-workers became concerned when he did not show up for his shift.

Ingram is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. No defense attorney was listed in online court records.

The death was the city’s eighth homicide of 2019.
