Authorities have charged three people with murder in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found at a Cape Cod highway rest area.
The arrests were announced Tuesday during a news conference involving Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz at which law enforcement announced related federal drug and gun charges against 13 people.
Ortiz says the arrests have broken up one of Cape Cod’s biggest drug distribution gangs.
Denzel Chisholm, Shannelle Chisholm and Tyrone Gomes face murder charges in connection with the death last September of 28-year-old Christine Ferreira, of Barnstable, whose body was found at a Route 6 rest area.
Denzel and Shannelle Chisholm appeared in court on Tuesday. They were ordered held without bail.
Ferreira died from multiple stabbing injuries and gunshot wounds. Investigators think Ferreira was killed in retaliation for her testimony against another gang member.
Gomes is expected to be arraigned in a few days.
