FOXBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - The New England Patriots will play their second game of the preseason Friday night, taking on the Carolina Panthers in a match-up fans hope to see Mac Jones take the field for.

Jones himself said he is feeling positive about his revamped receiving corps heading into tonight’s game at 7 p.m.

“I think we’ve done some good things, made some adjustments and stuff, and moving in the right direction, and that’s all you can ask for,” said Jones. “We have a good mix of size, speed, shiftiness, route-runners- I’ve been really pleased.”

With Matt Patricia or Joe Judge handling the play-calling duties, Jones said he is confident the Patriots offense is in good hands, telling reporters that, at the end of the day, the staff has experience and knows “exactly how to attack a defense.”

Regardless of how much the first team offense plays tonight, Jones said it’s been a productive week, thanks to a pair of solid joint practices with the Panthers. The week also included its fair share of skirmishes, including dust-ups that saw several Patriots being kicked from camp for the day(s).

The Patriots have already faced Joe Judge’s former team, the New York Giants, losing 23-21 as both teams fielded a number of their non-starters.

After the Panthers, New England will close out their preseason against the Raiders in Las Vegas on Aug. 26, before starting the regular season against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 11.

The kick-off time for tonight is 7 p.m.
