BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston Police said one person has died after being struck outside a T station in Boston early Thursday morning.

Crime scene tape is blocking off Columbus Avenue, Centre Street and Ritchie Street, near the Jackson Square T station.

“It’s very sad. I’m terrified every day that my kids have to cross this crosswalk right here,” one neighbor 7NEWS.

“My mom was literally jogging and called and said someone got badly hurt and possibly died,” said Candy Williams, who lives nearby. “And I went, ‘What? Where?’ She said right across from where I live. I was so shocked.”

Crime scene tape covered the scene most of the morning as investigators placed evidence markers on the floor. Officials could be seen placing markers by a set of keys in the road. The car involved stayed on the scene and was on lifts as the medical examiner arrived.

EMS said another person was taken to the hospital. 7NEWS is working to learn the condition of the person who was taken to the hospital.

Neighbors are shocked, but some said they’re not surprised.

“I’ve been living here for quite a while now and this intersection is terrible,” said one neighbor.

“I’ve always waited 10 seconds before crossing,” said Williams. “There’s fast cars. That could’ve been me, that person over there. It could’ve been anyone who walks casually on these crosswalks.”

The Orange Line shuttle buses at Jackson station were briefly re-routed because of the crash but have now resumed their normal routes.

Investigators are working to determine what led up to this crash.
