ATTLEBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - Attleboro kicked off its 2016 Christmas Festival of Lights Thursday night.

Many people gathered at the National Shrine of Our Lady Lasalette to get a glimpse of the lights.

Nearly 300,000 lights are used to light up 10 acres of space in the city.

The festival was organized by hundreds of volunteers who began planning the annual event in September.

The festival is illuminated each day from 5-9 p.m., and will be held until New Year’s Day.

A Christmas Craft Fair will be held at the festival this weekend, from 12-9 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
